So with Earth Hour coming up, I definitely look forward to it. My daughter is asleep by 7:30, so that whole hour can be well spent.
Last year, Hot 89.9 (my favourite local radio station) played wonderful romantic music. Old favourites for the most part, Foreigner, Usher, etc. I'm excited to see what music they'll put on for when the lights are out.
I know a lot of people are not keen on Earth Hour, they think it's pathetic greenwashing, and that it won't make much of a difference. I feel similarly, but every little bit counts, right? Even if 10 more people turn off their lights for one hour every year, thats 10 more people than last year that will be more aware of their actions and decisions.
So I will enjoy Earth Hour with my fiancee, and I hope that the rest of you will too. Can't hurt, right? :)
My take on Earth Hour

Freezing apartment
So, all winter my apartment has been freezing. And I don't really have a big problem with this, because in theory it helped reduce emissions. However, I had the thermostat set at the max (like 30 degrees celcius) just to try to get some heat. There was literally no heat anywhere in the apartment except my bedroom. If we were watching TV, or doing anything sitting on the couch, we would be in sweatpants, tshirt, 2 hoodies, and covered in a fleece blanket.
This can't be natural. I complained a few times to the landlord, and got nothing. I'm surprised we couldn't see our breaths. I wouldn't have minded if it was actually 19-20 degrees, but I am positive it was less than that. Somedays it was
warmer outside than inside. That's not right.
Anyways, I'm pretty sure that I wasn't charged any extra heating for it, cuz my bill was less than I would have expected for the summer. I just wanted to vent.
Has anyone else had a bad experience with their apartment complexes heating, and what did you do about it?

Catch up!
So, admittedly, it has been a very long time since I've updated, and I do apologize for that. Profusely. I hope to try to get back into updating at least once a week, and hopefully some of my viewers will return.
Anyways, a quick update. I have basically done a complete 180 in my personal life, and am much better for it. I have a new significant other who actually supports my personal beliefs, and enjoys having meaningful conversations with me. I am no longer vegetarian, but I do eat limited amounts of meat. I am no longer the one who cooks, which is nice.
I am still working for the same company, even though I took a few breaks, I seem to always gravitate back to this place. Ah well, at least it's income.
As always, I am always looking to change myself to better the world, and I plan on continuing on this path.
Til next time,
Frugal
