Computer update / minor epiphany

So I have found that despite the fact that I deleted all my Facebook applications, and came to a semblance of an epiphany regarding the computer, I have reattached myself to it.

But, although I am using the computer frequently again, I am having a much easier time balancing between computer time and family time, and feel that I am not compromising. I still spend quality time with both my daughter and my fiance, and I am having a better time remembering to complete my daily responsibilities (dishes, taking care of the animals, etc) instead of just pushing them aside and pretending they don't exist.

I have been neglecting my knitting/crocheting however, which make me feel bad because I have so much that I want to do with that.

It's all about balance, and I'm getting closer every day to figuring it all out. Like they say, practice makes perfect, but who wants perfection anyways? I just want to be happy, so that's what I'm focusing on.

Making your own energy boosters

Finding simple, healthy energy-packed foods is essential to maintaining high energy. Energy is very important when it comes to keeping yourself active and healthy, because without it you will crash.

If you're like me, then you look for the best options which contain the least amount of chemicals, preservatives, and questionable ingredients. The easiest way to ensure this is to take a little time for yourself and your family, and set up shop in the kitchen!

Most of the dry ingredients can be found in your preferred bulk foods store (Natural Food Pantry, Mother Hubbard's, Bulk Barn, and Rainbow Foods are a great place to start).

If you're not sure where to start looking for such recipes, look no further than Katie from Kitchen Stewardship's fantastic e-book called "Healthy Snacks to Go". In this, contains over 30 simply healthy recipes, which take little time, minimal preparation in some cases, and always result in happy, satisfied kids and parents.

Since cooking with your kids is a great way to bond and create a relationship that lasts through teenagehood, including them in the preparation and assembling stages of each recipe, and possibly even the cooking/baking stage, will make them feel not only an integral part of the family, but they will also be learning about their foods, and what makes them taste so good or feel so good.

If you have any of your own simple easy and healthy recipes that you'd like to share, please leave a comment and let the rest of the world know.
