As a belated wedding present, my mother bought me a top-o-the-line computerized sewing machine. I asked for a sewing machine, and I got a behemoth! But seriously, this thing, once I figure it out, will be amazing. It's got like twenty preset stitches, and that much I can figure out how to work. The issue lies in how the heck I'm supposed to thread the needle and stuff! I looked at it, looked at the instruction manual, and I am lost.
Luckily for me, the store that sold the behemoth to my mom offers free beginner sewing lessons. I wouldn't be surprised if it was titled something like "Learn to use the behemoth - Step 1" but who knows! I still haven't called about this. Talk about procrastination at it's best!
My first goal with this new beast will be to make a few handy sized bags. I have some fun fabric scraps that a friend of M's gave me that will be perfect for practicing on. I just need to actually get around to pulling it out (which isn't far, it's on a bookshelf in the living room, haha) and plug it in. Maybe tonight I will pull it out to start experimenting with, we'll see how I feel after work.
In other news, I am planning on moving to my own domain name! I haven't figured out what it will be yet. I am seriously looking forward to the move though, it is very exciting for me and I can't wait to start fiddling around with my new site. I will be getting help with this, from a friend as well as my dad, so at least I'm not going to drown in information!
If you have any ideas, thoughts, or quips about either behemoth computerized sewing machines or owning a domain name, feel free to share them below.

Adopting Simplicity: Ask yourself this...
When trying to determine a task/item/pastime/etc...'s priority, as yourself this:
Does it fulfill me in any way? Meaning, does having it around make you feel better, more accomplished, or does it just serve as a status symbol?
Can I enjoy it? Is it something that will get active use, or just sit in a corner/on a shelf/in a closet for months/years?
Why do I have this? Did you buy it because someone else had one, and so you felt that you needed it? Or is it something that you can truly use to benefit yourself somehow?
Ask yourself these simple questions when making choices about anything that takes your time or money. Make sure that when you spend money, you really get your value out of it. If it's something that will go out of style in less than five years, is it really worth your energy now?
Take a breath, and remember that all you can be is all that you want to be. You just need to take the steps to get there. Ensuring that you are not surrounded by things that distract you from your goals is a surefire way to find the energy to push yourself towards them.
Peace and serenity,
Simply Me

Social Networking: Helpful or Hopeless?
So, I am all over Facebook. I use it for it's actual purpose: Social Networking. I enjoy catching up with people that I don't see regularly, keeping tabs on who's having kids, etc. I love it.
Some people don't think it's a good thing. Some figure, if you want to find out about a person, call and ask them! But I don't really see it that way. I see it more as a way to open conversation. When you already know a bit about what's going on in someone's life, it makes it easier to initiate and maintain a basic conversation.
I find it very helpful in also finding information, such as who may be looking for a place to live, or who is trying to get rid of some of their junk.
How about you, do you use Facebook? If you do, what do you primarily use it for? If you don't, what's stopping you?
Don't be shy, I'm actually curious!
Interest and accuracy,
Simply Me

Where to start? Any ideas?
So, in case no one has noticed, I love writing. I love expressing myself, and I love writing down and inventing new ideas. I haven't actually written a short story or a chapter since my ex (expletive) decided to erase my personal folder off the computer approximately 2 and a half years ago, deleting 3 short storys, about 100 poems, and a long novel type story that I had been working on for about 5-6 years.
Now, I'm feeling the writing bug infestation coming back, but I'm stuck with a where. Where do I start? I can't go back to my old style of writing, because I have changed too much. I am happy, and so I can't write the depressing, somber, mopey poems of olde. I have my days where I feel like crying all day, and laying in bed staring at the ceiling. But they are much more infrequent.
So where do I start? I have no ideas, no specific inspiration. I need someone to slap me (figuratively) with an idea. I need a muse, and I need one now!
Love stories get old, and that's most of what I can think of, so if any one of you who passes along here, please leave even just a random sentence (as nonsensical as you'd like!) and it will be used to try to inspire this bug.
Thanks to anyone who leaves a note, if you do, I will personally send you whatever I write with the inspiration you have given me.
Love and serenity,
Simply Me

Youtube, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways...
So, since I've had a lot affection for music videos, basically my whole life (spending HOURS watching MuchMusic back when they played music videos), you can imagine that that hasn't changed much.
I love music videos, I love finding the official video, and I like to see fanmade ones too. I love being able to find songs based on lyrics, and then verifying that it's the right song by listening to it.
In short, I love Youtube.
Not only can you find music videos (Galore!) but you can sometimes even find movies broken into 10 minute chunks, old TV shows, theme songs, funny shite, new stuff that hasn't been released as a single yet, and old music that hasn't been heard in 50 years.
This is currently my favourite song:
How about you? What's your favourite song to listen to right now? Do you enjoy finding the music video and seeing how it ties (or doesn't tie) into the actual song?

Simply Me
